Designed by Giancarlo Piretti, 1970 for Castellini, described as ‘A synthesis of comfort and modularity, the Alky are designed to be used individually or in aggregation. The padding is printed directly on a system of elastic bands, to ensure great stability in use. Its structure rests on an aluminum alloy component. A seat with soft lines making it adaptable to the most diverse places.’
The chair is extremely versatile and due to its fluid form and compact size fits well into residential or retail environments. An elegant lounge chair.
Unlike most chairs, the Alky doesn’t have a distinctive base and seat; rather the entire form appears as one continuous piece, originally upholstered in velvet and wool and set on narrow, aluminum feet.
